Am Back

Well, most of the problems in my life have passed, and hopefully, I can get back to working wood again. Bought a new Compound Miter Saw, so now there is no excuse for corners that do not quite match.

Thinking of building some rocking baby cradles. I have the patterns in my mind, I just need to get the wood.

Started

Well, have finally gotten the fist of many projects almost to the completion stage. Making a triangular shelfing project for the wife. It's a three teer affair that has just three legs on each level.

Its 37 inches wide, and 27 inches deep with 45 degree sides. Had to dowl and glue pieces together, and after doing a lot of sanding, am ready to put the stain on. Problem is, the stain I have on hand has dried out, (Stains in the desert tend to do that even with the lid tightly on.)
Going to make it a Golden Oak.

Ready to go

Well, I have the wood, and am ready to begin new projects that I have found patterns for.

The problem is the weather. We here in the desert have received a whole years supply of rain in just a few days.

This has delayed any wood work, as my rain gutters glue has dried in the hot sun and seperated, and when the rains came, the joints leaked badly. We are expecting more rains, so this has to be fixed before I can get back into wood working.

Bring on the warm weather

Hopefully in the next two weeks some warmer weather will arrive. I got a new saw, and Mouse sander, and I am itching to get started on some wood ideas I have.

Have been pricing the wood at Home Depot and Lowe's..... (1) I am not the Bank of America, and (2) I am not building a boat, so I do not need "pre-curved" boards. The wood is terrible. I have been buying Cedar fence boards, and running them thru my planner. This smooths them out, and is a lot cheaper than pine. (Now if I could just get them to make some 10 or 12 inch wide planks.)

Anyways, its been to cool to have the garage open to do any wood work, but hopefully, that will cahnge, as I am ready to start.
